In conventional breast cancer screening, mammography, the breast is pressed into the mammograph and exposed to X-rays. The doctor can now see on the X-ray whether the suspicion of a tumor is confirmed. It is being discussed whether regular exposure to X-rays increases the risk of cancer during the mammography procedure.
